Biografía
Chuck Agro was born in Buffalo, New York in 1955. He graduated from Buffalo State College with a BFA in painting in 1987, and received his MFA in painting from the State University of New York at Buffalo in 1989. In 1988 he had his first solo exhibition at HALLWALLS, and while in Buffalo he was included in several group exhibitions at the Albright-Knox.
Chuck moved to NYC in 1989 and began to exhibit regularly starting in 1990 with a group show at PS1. Since 1993 his paintings have been included in over 50 group exhibitions and he has had 9 solo exhibitions. His group shows have included cataloged exhibitions at Pennsylvania State University, The Swiss Institute, LAMOCA, and the Burchfield Center in Buffalo. He has had solo exhibitions at Hallwalls, White Columns, Edward Thorp Gallery, Earl McGrath Gallery, and Christopher Grimes Gallery.
In addition his paintings have been reviewed and/or reproduced by: The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, The Buffalo News, Arts Magazine, Artweek Magazine, BOMB Magazine, and Art in America. In June of 1996 his painting LOVE, BOB, LOVE was the featured cover article for Casa e Jardine in Portugal and In 1997 The New Yorker featured his painting TURNING AWAY with an article and a full page reproduction.
